This image was created with a process that I call 'photo fusion', a made-up term based in the process I use to create them. My first photo fusions were basic in nature and although visually interesting, the process of flipping photographs did not hold my interest for very long. I still have a few of those early images in my portfolio, but the process has evolved and continues to. It can take days to complete an image to my satisfaction, and even then only some are what I consider successful. I do get lost in the process and find it to be quite therapeutic, like putting together a puzzle. I start with an original image that shoot myself. Some are staged, and some are elements or scenes that capture my interest naturally. Then I begin the process of flipping and fusing in a way that allows me to create the final asymmetrical image. The images also contain other elements taken from the same photograph or series of photographs that are combined with the image, creating entirely new elements and even characters. Often two elements that might at first glance look exactly the same but only opposite, actually have subtle differences. Each time one of these creations is viewed, new visuals seem to emerge that were not seen before. I hope you enjoy looking into my surreal creations and enjoy their fantastical quality and what they reveal for you.
